ABC Glenfield is a quality childcare centre with strong links to the local Glenfield community and schools. We provide care for children aged 3 months to 5 years, with age appropriate classrooms, resources and environments that encourage our tamariki to grow and develop fundamental, lifelong skills before leaving for Primary school.
We provide all tamariki with a nurturing and challenging environment that is safe and clean. We respect and celebrate diversity and acknowledge that every tamariki brings their own interest, experiences and strengths to the centre. Our team is passionate about early childhood education and take part in regular professional learning opportunities to continue their own learning to provide our children with the very best education and care.
Te Atawhai and Te Pihinga rooms are designed for tamariki from 3 months to two years. Our philosophy in our infants area takes inspiration from the RIE philosophy and provides an environment that is strong in respect, belonging, and exploration. We follow a primary caregiving routine in our under 2’s with the aim of providing a seamless transition for both the tamariki and whanau. Each child’s development is beautifully recorded in their individual learning journeys.
Te Puawai room is designed for tamariki from 2 years to around 3. This area supports tamariki as they grow and develop their communication and social skills. The classroom is designed for open-ended exploration and the development of relationships with teachers and peers, giving the opportunity for our tamariki to learn with and alongside others.
Te Whakakaha and Te Tutika rooms are designed for children 3 years and over. We believe our tamariki are confident and capable learners, and as teachers we encourage them to grow their skills to be independent and confident in all areas of the curriculum. Our unique Be School Ready initiative has been developed to ensure that tamariki leave our centre as confident, capable learners who are prepared for the next step in their education journey. The tamariki in this area have the opportunity to experience primary school before they start with regular visits to Manuka Primary School to spend time in the library, attend assembly, and use the playground.
We are excited to offer our families access to Storypark e-portfolios. They are a great way to keep up to date with what you child is doing while at the centre. You can log in to check out photos of them and comment on their activities. Click here for more information.
“We are so lucky to have the best kindy teachers in the world. Thanks a million. I can’t believe Connor’s kindergarten life is over, he has achieved a lot over the years. Thank you for creating an environment of enthusiasm for learning, appreciation for growing, and room for making mistakes along the way.”
“We can’t thank you enough for all the love, care, humor, empathy and effort you have given to our family. I know you guys work so hard to build relationships with my son which shows through how happy he is when I pick him up. You guys are awesome and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
“It takes a village to raise a child – African proverb. Thank you for being part of our village. The Green family”
“The staff are amazing and welcoming, they love our boys and treat them so well. I have seen them grow and develop so much since attending daycare, my youngest son absolutely loves his teachers, they are amazing and look after him and treat him like family. My oldest boy has a great relationship with his teachers and loves them all, and always talks about Hugh which is great to see and hear. All the teachers treat them very well, which is always greatly appreciated as a parent.”
