ABC Greenmeadows – What matters to you, matters to us
This simple phrase is the backbone of our philosophy. It is our mission to find out what matters to you and your family, in the care and education of your child. We have been listening and meeting the needs of families, co-creating exceptional care and education of babies through to pre-school children, for over 10 years.
We are conveniently located on one of Napier city’s main traffic routes- directly opposite the beautiful Anderson Park and in walking distance to the Greenmeadows shops and New World supermarket, providing our children with many opportunities to explore our local community and environment. We are also in close proximity to Greenmeadows School and Tamatea Intermediate and High School. This provides families from many suburbs ease of access between work, schools and home.
Our centre is based in two comfortable re-purposed houses which stand side by side, and are situated on full sections with impressively spacious outdoor play areas. You will be pleasantly surprised to see the grounds spread from Kennedy Road across to Tait Drive providing two access points. We are a home like centre for those parents looking for a place with a heart for children, and a passion to respond to family values and aspirations. These are just some of the many things that make this incredible family-orientated centre such an essential for families near and far.
Our Koru Room welcomes children up to 3 years old. New life, growth, strength and peace permeate the Koru room. You will meet teachers who are nurturing and sensitive to the needs of you and your child. Teachers are emotionally present and respect that each infant has their own rhythm and pace. They listen to what matters to you, to provide all that your baby needs to feel safe and loved. Your child’s key teacher is there throughout the day, offering support and nurturing during care moments and teaching opportunities and ensuring all the significant and magic moments in your child’s day are passed on to you. Babies and toddlers are offered rich sensory spaces that provide for safe exploration and active whole-body learning. Babies can enjoy a special space in the room where they have safe, uninterrupted play.
“Firstly a huge big thank you to each and every staff member at ABC Greenmeadows. We are forever grateful for the guidance, teaching, care, love and respect you have shown to my baby girl and our whanau. As a parent I am proud to say that you have all played apart in Xian’s learning journey. Nga Mihi – The O’Brien Whanau
When our older 2-year olds are ready they are supported to transition into the Tiaki Room. Care and protection are at the heart of this room. This learning space has an inviting range of creative, construction, literacy and numeracy experiences available for hands-on learning and exploration. Children lead their own learning, supported by teachers who respect their ideas, listen carefully, and provide opportunities to extend their thinking and learning. If you child likes to rest or requires a sleep they can do so peacefully. Children in the Tiaki Room enjoy a large outdoor space with plenty of room to explore and have fun with their friends and teachers. Teachers nurture their sense of empathy and inspire children to care for others in a unique way by ‘Filling a Bucket’. This simple metaphor grows understanding of the effects of our actions and words on others and ourselves. Children love to express daily kindness, appreciation, and love for others.
“To all the staff at ABC Greenmeadows. Thank you all so much for the investment, nurturing and support while Pitama was attending ABC. We are so grateful for the relationships he built while there. Hope to visit in the future. Jo , Hiku and Pitama”
Our children continue to flourish as they transition seamlessly into the Mana Room from 3 ½ years. Teachers create a climate of unity, kindness, and togetherness, where children enjoy many opportunities to express their ‘Mana’. We provide a, supportive and challenging environment where the individual needs and interests of children are affirmed and extended. Learning skills of everyday life are explored through play-based learning.
The Mana room has a strong focus on our ‘Be School Ready’ initiative. Our programme supports children with foundation skills in:
- Early Numeracy and Literacy
- Creativity, arts and music
- Physical Wellbeing
- Being a friend, and relating to others
Children can choose to join fun and purposeful mat times. These are sensitively facilitated by teachers, creating opportunities for children to socialise, and share more about themselves. They also provide opportunities to develop thinking and communication skills. Starting school can be a big step for some children. Regular school visits support children’s familiarity with the school environment. Children are eager to begin their next adventure when their ‘graduation’ day arrives, full of confidence and accomplished young learners.
“Love the centre, both my children were enrolled there right from a young age. Very happy with the education and care that was provided, and the preparation for school. Awesome staff, warm, friendly, knowledgeable teachers who have great relationships with families”.
