BestStart’s ABC Katikati is a fun, play-based daycare centre that prides itself on developing a home away from home. We embrace the diverse cultures and needs of our community here in Katikati and love supporting our tamariki (children) to learn about these cultures.
We celebrate and promote our loving, respectful and supportive relationships with our tamariki, whanau (families) and our community. We value these relationships and believe it builds an important foundation in tamariki learning and development. We love to get involved in community fundraising (especially supporting Plunket), events and visiting different places.
Our planning and curriculum is play-based, following tamariki interests, with a focus on meeting individual tamariki goals and parent/whanau aspirations. We have a wide variety of fun resources and experiences available daily for children including art, messy play, blocks, family play, construction, books, music, physical activity, sand/water play and many more. Our curriculum follows Te Whāriki, with an emphasis on the five strands, Communication, Well-being, Belonging, Contribution and Exploration.
Our nurturing, inviting and provoking environment is something we have pride in. We encourage our tamariki to respect our papatuanuku and care for our environment. We are regularly reviewing, changing and resetting our environment to reflect tamariki interests, development stages and encourage fun.
We provide the BestStart initiative “Be School Ready” to ensure our children are ready to continue on their learning journey through to school or Kura. This initiative runs alongside the NZ Primary School Curriculum and is integrated into our daily programme.
We have calm, respectful and nurturing routines that follow the tamariki needs, including our rolling meal times, fun, interactive mat times and our ability to get to know your individual routines and personalise these for our day to day care of your child.
Come in and meet our enthusiastic, knowledgeable and supportive team here at ABC and see how we can support you and your family.

We are excited to offer our families access to Storypark e-portfolios. They are a great way to keep up to date with what your child is doing while at the centre. You can log in to the secure platform wherever you are in the world to see what’s been happening in their day, check out photos of them and comment on their activities.
