ABC New Plymouth
ABC New Plymouth is a home-like centre located in the heart of New Plymouth, close to all central city amenities. We provide full day educative care for children across two learning spaces; Infants & Toddlers and Young Children’s.
Our centre foundation and philosophy is based upon “Valuing relationships that last” and is underpinned by our six values: love, respect, creativity, fairness, enthusiasm and honesty. Watch our vision in action below.
Valuing our wider community and the relationships that evolve from engaging with local businesses, rest home facilities and local iwi through ongoing centre excursions to:
- Puke Ariki
- Heatherlea Rest Home
- Parihaka Pa
- Little Cubs Karate
These excursions benefit your child and their sense of belonging through meaningful learning experiences, providing links from home to centre environments.
With meaningful relationships being the heart of our centre philosophy, teachers engage in reciprocal, collaborative learning – focused relationships with learners, families and whanau, allowing opportunities for open communication and respectful relationships to thrive. Through responsive relationships, collaborative aspirations and achievements for your child are celebrated and valued. We enhance learning opportunities and experiences for all children within our inclusive curriculum based environment.
Learner identity is affirmed and acknowledged through a multicultural approach to learning and assessment. Your child and their cultural identity is incorporated into an inclusive curriculum where teachers work closely together with families, whanau and the wider community to ensure all children and their well-being is promoted and valued.
Be School Ready
We support and prepare your child for the smooth transition from centre to primary school through the Be School Ready initiative incorporated throughout our centre curriculum. This provides the opportunity for teachers to build relationships with local primary teachers and schools, and provides your child with an ongoing environment where their passion for learning is sustained, developing their social skills and enabling a positive, enjoyable transition.

“I’m so incredibly thankful to all the wonderful teachers here at ABC, who have been a huge part of Issacs life for the past 4 1/2 years, they have helped me in every way to teach Issac his core values, to respect and care for others. You guys don’t just watch our kids while we work (or admittedly just take a break from our precious ratbags) You assist us in nurturing them and in helping them to grow socially and academically, ultimately, through your love and care, you help us be comfortable with the fact that we are working and not able to be with our babies all day. Thank you all so much for all the love, commitment and kindness you have shown to Issac and I. I am so very grateful to have shared the start of our journey with you all.”
“I want to commend you guys at ABC. There is a lot of stuff Adam has learned that is becoming really noticeable. e.g. putting back stuff in it’s place after using it”
“I love the fact you are incorporating the little cubs karate in to the centre. Hunter is so looking forward to it and being a part of learning new skills with the rest of the children.”
“I just wanted to say thank you to you and all your fantastic staff who have given our two kids such a wonderful start. They couldn’t have been happier and there was never a single moment where we felt that Chloe and Kathryn weren’t being looked after or kept safe and happy. Keep up the good work. You’re all stars in our eyes and we’ll miss you”!
