ABC Springlands offers quality care and education in Blenheim. Our centre is purpose-built with a wonderful playground for children to explore and have adventures in. We are well-resourced with committed, caring and experienced teachers.
We group children in similar age groups and create environments that best meet their age and stage of development. We have close relationships with our parents, sharing information in many ways so they always know what is happening at the centre. Every day, our parents know what their child is doing and learning.
When children turn four, we introduce our Be School Ready initiative which prepares children for school. We offer computer programmes to support literacy and mathematical concepts and help children develop IT skills. We document this in their journals. Our centre has an onsite cook who provides nutritious lunches, morning and afternoon teas based on the NZ Heart Foundation’s Healthy Heart guidelines. We teach children about how important healthy food is for growing and learning.
Our learning programmes are based on three broad developmental spans:
Infants – We know parents want their child to feel loved and secure. Through holding, singing and talking our teachers give infants one-on-one care and attention which builds strong relationships. Our teachers understand child development and know how to enhance children’s learning.
Toddlers – This age group needs lots of attention and interaction. Each day we will provide an environment that allows children to learn through play and exploration. Teachers provide a wide range of fun learning activities that allow the children to use their five senses and extend their physical motor skills. We provide routines and expectations that meet this age group’s level of development.
Preschool children – This age group loves to learn. We look for ways to extend and explore each child’s natural curiosity and theories about the world around them. Children of this age are self-motivated and often set their own learning goals. We will allow time for children to master their set tasks whilst providing support and opportunities to extend their learning.
We are excited to offer our families access to Storypark e-portfolios. They are a great way to keep up to date with what your child is doing while at the centre. You can log in to the secure platform to see what’s been happening in their day, check out photos of them and comment on their activities. We have received a Healthy Heart Award from the NZ Heart Foundation!
“Both my husband and I are satisfied with the care given to both our children. The staff were fantastic when our youngest changed classrooms and helped all members of the family with the move. Both children always have stories to tell about their days, and although they appear to have their favourite teachers I feel they are comfortable with all of the teaching staff. We are always well informed about the goings on at preschool and the development of the children.”
