EduKids Baverstock Road
EduKids Baverstock is located in the centre of East Auckland, right next door to Baverstock Oaks School, and just around the corner from Sancta Maria Catholic Primary School and Willowbank School.
At EduKids Baverstock, our parents are a vital part of centre life and our philosophy. We as teachers are co-learners and collaborators with the children. We pride ourselves on positive working relationships with families. Families are involved in various events throughout the year including centre programmes, excursions, fundraising and annual celebrations of cultures and community events.
Our programme is created based on the principle of respect, responsibility and community through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment based on the interests of the children through a child-led curriculum. We have three dedicated rooms caring for children of different age and developmental stages. Each room has their specially designed indoor and outdoor areas, and the teaching team in each room implements teaching methods and strategies that best suit children of different interests and needs, promote, enhance and support children’s learning and development, and incorporate daily activities and experiences that are fun and engaging for all children which also woven together with Te Whāriki (Early Childhood Curriculum) and BestStart’s unique Be School Ready initiative.
Nutritious home cooked meals are provided by our onsite chef. We consider a well-balanced nutrition is especially important for young children, because it is directly linked to all aspects of their growth and development. We also cater for most of the cultural and allergy sensitive needs of our children e.g. vegetarian, egg and peanut allergies. Our cyclical winter/summer menu and our involvement in promoting physical activities with greater enjoyment for young children received Gold (Pā-Harakeke) Award from the NZ Heart Foundation in 2017. Read about our achievements here.
Acorns – the Infants and Toddlers room is a cosy room where babies are offered many open-ended play objects to explore freely. We have a fabulous 1:4 ratio in this room. Each infant under two years old has a primary caregiver who works collaboratively with your family to meet your child’s individual routine and learning needs. For our fun and adventurous “Terrific Twos”, the teachers design a programme that ensures they gain the social and communication skills required before they move up to Budding Branches room.
Budding Branches – the late Toddlers room is an exciting, creative and adventurous room. The children are offered lots of fun and challenging experiences every day. Our very skilled and experienced teachers work closely with the children to help them develop social and self-help skills as well as starting their early literacy and numeracy learning. The teachers are also very experienced in helping children during toilet learning to ensure that they are fully competent and capable when they move up to the Be School Ready room.
Tall Oaks – the Be School Ready room is a well-resourced room where children are able to engage deeper in their play and learning with support from the teachers. This is the room where children are further encouraged for their sense of wonder. They are introduced to some key learning skills to explore and research areas of interest. They also further develop their self-help and social skills they learnt from Budding Branches. We do many “school-like” activities in this room (including lunchbox for 4 ½+ year olds). The teaching team incorporate different teaching methods and strategies in our daily activities to further children’s early literacy and numeracy, ensuring that all the children build a solid foundation for the formal learning experience at school.
We have a learning partnership with Baverstock Oaks Primary School – we have regular weekly visits and participate in their functions and events – and many of our children go on to enrol there. Children who have attended our centre, especially those who had been here since they were babies, all pass the School Entry Assessment when they turn five, with 40%-50% way above the standards required.
We are excited to offer our families access to Storypark e-portfolios. They are a great way to keep up to date with what you child is doing while at the centre. You can log in to check out photos of them and comment on their activities. Click here for more information.
We have a Gold Healthy Heart Award!

“We remember struggling to find the perfect daycare for our daughter. The first time we stepped into EduKids Baverstock, we were welcomed by everyone with warm smiles. The next day we invited ourselves in, she felt at home and we were surprised that everyone remembered her name! Then, we thought, we had finally found the perfect fit for her. Nothing can compare to EduKids Baverstock, they give the best care and experience any creative and loving kid can have in a daycare.”
