EduKids Delamain in Yaldhurst, is an early learning childcare centre designed with children/nga tamariki in mind. Our centre has a warm, welcoming and home-like environment with happy children who experience quality care and education. We are conveniently located on Buchanans Rd which makes us a perfect option for families commuting into the city for work.
We are open from 7am to 6pm and only close for public holidays. We offer 6 hour sessions, as well as half-day sessions and full time care for children aged 3 months to 5 years old. We really can cater for any family’s needs!
Our learning environment
We believe that every child deserves the best care and learning opportunities, within a carefully planned environment. This ensures children can grow in a supportive atmosphere. We have created a well-balanced and safe environment for children and their families/whanau to ensure they feel relaxed and secure.
Our physical environment provides both indoor and outdoor excitement, enabling children to grow and learn to their full potential. Our large outdoor play areas provide children with opportunities for exploration, building co-ordination and developing their gross motor skills with challenging interchangeable equipment.
We have four classrooms that cater for the differing developmental stages of children – our Nursery Room (3 months to 2 year olds); our Toddler Room (2 to 3 year olds); our Preschool Room (3 to 4 year olds) and our Prep Room (4 to 5 year olds).
Each area is richly resourced with a wide range of equipment that is developmentally and individually appropriate for each differing age and stage. The Nursery Room includes a cosy, safe nest for our youngest infants. In the Nursery, our use of a Primary care-giving philosophy allows babies and infants to develop bonds with their caregivers and ensures that each child has a teacher dedicated to them.
The Prep Room offers a Be School Ready initiative with extension experiences that prepare children for their transition to primary school. We have good relationships with our local primary school and visit with our Prep Room children to help familarise them with the school setting.
Our learning programme
Our early learning centre has a passionate, multicultural teaching team who provide a programme that is child initiated, based on current individual and group interests, needs and developmental stages. Teachers who stimulate children’s play and learning create the opportunity to not only have fun, but to enhance the total development and skills of each child and build a sense of belonging.
Our learning programme is based on Te Whāriki (the NZ Early Childhood Curriculum), and incorporates a solid understanding of today’s educational approaches.
Our centre and wider community are an integral part of our culture. We encompass the rich diversities within our community, believing that everyone brings something unique and exciting to our centre. Bi-culturalism is part of the fabric of our centre.
We are proud of the excellent relationships we have developed with our families as well as the close, trusting bonds we have formed with our children. We respect and encourage families/whanau to share their beliefs, values and traditions to ensure that we are an inclusive environment where everyone is valued.
Our dedicated teachers are passionate about building relationships with all children. This means that our whole team is known by all the children, regardless of their classroom. This is further reflected in the excellent classroom transition process which is designed to cater for each child and their family’s individual needs. Qualified teachers you can trust. Strong community involvement.
We are excited to offer our families access to Storypark e-portfolios. They are a great way to keep up to date with what your child is doing while at the centre. You can log in to the secure platform to see what’s been happening in their day, check out photos of them and comment on their activities. “Thank you for making Lachlan’s transition to EduKids Delamain and Christchurch so smooth. Lachlan has developed a strong bond with his teachers and peers alike. We feel Lachlan has truly flourished while in your centre, into a happy, caring, strong minded little man. In a flash the time has come to transition to primary school. We appreciate the care and support from the centre and would highly recommend the centre to anyone looking for childcare.”
“Overall, I have been over the moon with the personalised service, the ease of transitions and the fantastic teachers that this centre has provided. I have recommended this centre to those I know and will continue to do so.”
“My Grandson has been with EduKids Delamain now for quite awhile and it has and is fantastic watching him develop and grow into such a confident wee boy through the wonderful learning and care that he receives from the staff. I have found every staff member to be very approachable and helpful. He loves his time there – so much so it is very hard to get him to come home!! So just wanted to let you know how much all your hard work does not go unnoticed and its certainly gives our family huge peace of mind that he is in such a caring environment throughout the day.”
“WOW, what to say… We have been family for over 4 years. The care and support has been amazing, thank you. I have been able to go to work knowing my child is happy and safe. You have joined us in the learning of dinosaurs, fossils, rocks, crystals and the solar system. Thank you”
