EduKids East Tamaki
EduKids East Tamaki is a new early learning childcare centre in Papatoetoe. Located close to Hunters Corner, we are conveniently located, close to the motorway, easily accessible and have plenty of parking.
We care for children from 3 months to 5 years old and have a team of friendly, experienced and qualified Early Childhood Education teachers to nurture and inspire every child. Our warm, clean and nurturing environment is a place where all children are respected, encouraged and supported in their individual learning and development.
We are proud of the close relationships we have with our families. We celebrate a diverse range of cultural events and have regular parent information sessions and fun social gatherings. Our relationships enable us to respond to children’s personal needs, catering to their routines and encouraging them in their interests and development.
Our Preschool area is an open and spacious environment where all our fantastic educational toys and equipment are easily accessible, offering children opportunities to explore independently, extending their learning and development. Our children love spending hours in our outdoor playground with lots of NZ native trees. It provides safe and challenging environment where children have the opportunity to develop their gross motor skills as well as providing space for quiet contemplation and connection with nature. Our preschool is divided into two classrooms that caters to the developmental needs of specific age groups.
Our centre philosophy is inspired by the following Maori proverb –
He taonga te mokopuna, kia whāngaia, kia tipu, kia rea.
A child is a treasure, to be nurtured, to grow, to flourish
We have special Stay and Play sessions every Wednesday from 10-11am. We welcome all families from the community to come along and enjoy our wonderful centre with your child. Contact us for more information or simply turn up!
Nga Kakano – Infants and Toddlers (0 to 2 year olds)
Our Nursery is a safe and nurturing space with carefully selected age appropriate toys and equipment to engage and extend our youngest children’s learning and development. We have an open plan area and wonderful outdoor play space where our babies can explore freely. We have excellent teacher-to-child ratios: 1 teacher for every 3 children, which ensures children are closely supported by responsive and loving teachers. Our Infant and toddlers interact in fun learning experiences where they get to enhance their sensory skills, developing gross and fine motors skills. We take pride in teaching our younger children to develop self helps skills that they can continue to grow as they transition to the preschool rooms and further to school. We love to have an open door policy where parent/whanau and children are welcome spend time us.
Te Rito – Preschool 1 (2 to 3.5 year olds)
This room supports the growing developmental needs of our 2 to 3.5 year olds who are discovering and being curious about the world around them. Teachers follow child’s lead and develop program to suit the needs and requirements of each child through various developmental areas like language and literacy, social skills, physical development, and creative expression. Most important, teachers provide caring and responsive caregiving that ensures child’s wellbeing through making them feel safe and secure in their environment.
Nga Rau – Preschool 2 (3.5 to 5 year olds)
This room supports children’s growing confidence in their abilities and skills through providing a program that is child lead; thus allowing them to take ownership of their learning. Our qualified teachers observe children’s interests and dispositions and provide a program that supports children to have a deeper understanding and knowledge of their chosen topic. We believe that children’s learning is deepened when they are trying to answer questions or solve problems by themselves. We empower and support them in their inquiry learning. There is nothing better than seeing the pride on a child’s face when they solve a problem by themselves or the look of wonder when they make new discoveries. Nurturing this natural curiosity helps develop inquiring minds, setting our children up for a love of learning for life. The program also emphasises social and emotional readiness.
Our Be School Ready Initiative
Our Be School Ready initiative is aimed at supporting and developing skills required for getting school ready. Our qualified teachers provide purposeful experiences that introduce children to early concepts of maths, science, art, reading and other curriculum areas. The Be School Ready initiative officially begins when a child turns 4. They receive a small gift to signal the beginning of their journey to school. Upon completion of the initiative, on their fifth birthday, they receive a certificate and gift as a signifier of their readiness for school.
Some of the learning opportunities the Be School Ready initiative offers includes:
- Literacy skills
- Numeracy skills
- Understanding the world
- Creativity, arts and music
- Sharing and relating to others
- Physical and gross motor skills
