TopKids Avondale is located on the corner of Lansford Crescent and Wolverton Street in Avondale. It is a great location for both families who work locally and families who are travelling a little further each day. Our team are dedicated to providing quality early childhood care and education for children in partnership with parents, families and whanau. We offer care for children from 3 months–5 years of age and conveniently also have School’s Out located onsite, offering before and after school care for older siblings and our tamariki when they turn 5.
We provide safe, respectful, stimulating and interactive learning environments for our tamariki. Our centre is committed to learning about and being involved in the rich multi-cultural heritages in our centre. We value the importance of individuality, relationships and providing an environment which is safe, fun and nurturing for everyone. We support all of our children to thrive and grow to become confident, competent lifelong learners and we encourage and welcome parents and family to be a part of the centre.
At TopKids Avondale we cherish our time with each other, our tamariki and our whanau. We value our commitment to cultural diversity, uniqueness and individuality, and this is central to our centre life. The principles of our curriculum underpin all of our interactions and practice with our families. We ultimately strive to be and feel like a home away from home for you and your tamariki.
We have a team of dedicated and experienced teachers offering quality education and care for our children. Our team are committed, passionate and dedicated, ensuring our children’s experiences are positive and memorable. Our teaching team has a rich and diverse ethnic background which enriches the centre to provide the best care for our diverse community. We are privileged to have a team that offers a diverse range of languages including English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujrati, Malayalam, Tamil, Marathi, Telugu, Filipino, Samoan, Tongan and Te Reo.
Our programmes are based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum Te Whaariki which provides the foundation for us to develop an engaging and stimulating learning environment. Our experienced teachers plan responsive programmes reflecting children’s current interests and dispositions. This is reflected through the daily experiences and activities which provoke new learning and extends current knowledge and skills. We encourage children’s involvement in all experiences, building their confidence and communication skills as they work with and alongside others. We offer both an online profile via Storypark and a Profile Book which captures your child’s individual growth and learning. These are very cherished by children and families and are always available for families to share with wider whanau.
Our spacious and attractive environment enables children to safely explore, investigate and make discoveries. Each room offers an environment that is specifically tailored to their age, offering safe and stimulating challenges. Our teachers skilfully integrate links to literacy, numeracy and science through children’s natural play and exploration. Our resources and equipment are age appropriate and encourage our children to develop new skills, extend knowledge and provoke their imaginations.
Our Amazing Spaces
Our Little Huia Room cares for our infants from 3 months–2 years of age. We have a lovely intimate space which has an outdoor courtyard, providing a safe space for our very young infants to explore. Our infants are provided primary care in Little Huia, where one main teacher supports your child, providing consistent care and communication for your family. Our teachers offer an environment where our infant’s needs are constantly met, our infants are happy, content and confident to explore. Experiences offered in Little Huia are safe and sensory as our infants are learning all about the world around them. Our team value strong, responsive and reciprocal relationships which are supportive of children’s holistic well-being. We place high value on parent and whanau relationships and work closely with parents each day to ensure we are giving them the support they need while their children are in our care.
Our Huia Room cares for our toddlers aged from 2–2.5 years of age. We have a lovely spacious room, which is set up to meet the needs of our growing explorers. We have a workshop area which allows for creative projects to begin – this is where our children often use new tools and equipment for the first time. We have a lovely outdoor area with gardens which we enjoy caring for. Our large indoor areas offer great spaces for our inquisitive toddlers to explore, work alone and in groups. This supports our team to develop children’s social skills through fostering independence and becoming responsible learners. We encourage tamariki to continue to develop self-help skills and provide a language-rich environment which enables problem solving skills and encourages children to express themselves. We strive to ensure our children are engaged and supported to discover their independence and own potential in a fun and interesting way.
Our Piha Room cares for our older toddlers aged from 2.5–3.5 years of age. The environment in our Piha Room is open and spacious; we have two large indoor areas including a gym space, which is where you will often find us dancing, mastering obstacle courses and enjoying physical games. We have a lovely levelled outdoor area which offers space for our teachers to set up new and exciting experiences every day. Our children are invited to participate and implement their own ideas into the programme and teachers embrace children’s individuality and scaffold children’s learning. Our Piha team is dedicated to supporting children in mastering their self-help skills, promoting readiness for school, whilst making learning relaxed and fun.
Our Karekare Room cares for our eldest children, aged from 3.5–5 years of age. The Karekare team are skilled in planning and responding to our children’s growing curiosity. In this room you will find lots of project work, where children are revisiting learning and applying past knowledge or skills to new experiences. We have a wonderful outdoor area, offering children space to explore and challenge themselves physically. Our teachers are very focused on extending children’s knowledge around numeracy and literacy, offering children group times where they experience activities and games which provoke their thinking and problem solving. Our team ultimately believe that children will flourish in their lifelong learning by developing positive social competencies and this will support children to feel a sense of ease and confidence through their transition to school.
We are excited to offer our families access to Storypark e-portfolios. They are a great way to keep up to date with what you child is doing while at the centre. You can log in to the secure platform wherever you are in the world to see what’s been happening in their day, check out photos of them and comment on their activities.
