Montessori Mona Vale
Montessori Mona Vale is a very special little centre nestled between the Christchurch central city and Riccarton Mall.
Our small licence allows us to build meaningful relationships with all our children and whanau. When we know our children so well we can guide their learning in a way that honours the individuality of each child, allowing each child to set the pace of their own learning in a highly individualised programme.
We offer all children the opportunity to be introduced to the Mandarin language and te reo Māori, while we experience great success at teaching English as an additional language. The Montessori Mona Vale community embraces many of the world’s cultures. Children develop a sense of pride in who they are, with an appreciation and respect of both the diversity within the centre and the wider New Zealand community.
Licensed for just 30 children aged between 2-6 years of age, our programme is based on the unique educational philosophy of Dr Maria Montessori, alongside the world-renowned New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki.
The wonderful feedback we have received from families and schools as our children move on to primary education tells us we are doing an outstanding job of ensuring our young learners take with them a love of learning and the ability to transition to school with great success. Montessori learners are known for their ability to concentrate, work independently and with a solutions focussed attitude to learning and to life.
The carefully maintained “prepared environment” and special Montessori materials allow children the freedom to explore and learn at their own pace. Programmes are highly individualised, depending on your child’s unique needs and your aspirations for their learning. Our passionate and committed team of educators “follow the child”, as taught by Dr Montessori, helping them become confident and competent lifelong learners.
