School’s Out Logo

Many parents like yourself, are striving to provide the best possible life for your family.

Sometimes this means placing the care of your child in the hands of others. As parents ourselves we know how daunting this can be.

School’s Out is based on the premise that we are privileged to be given the honour of caring for other people’s children. It is a privilege that is not taken lightly. Our School’s Out centres are safe, special places where we know children will have fun whilst they develop and grow.

Our After School Care and Holiday Programmes aim to have “Safe and Happy Children, Happy Parents and Happy Families”.

All of our After School Care and Holiday Programmes comply with government regulations and are audited on a regular basis.

As a parent you could be eligible for an OSCAR Subsidy which will help you with your fees. Information on your entitlement is available on the WINZ website, www.winz.govt.nz.

Activities

School’s Out is not school. It is a time for your children to relax and enjoy themselves. There is no compulsion to participate in any particular activity. Children are presented with a choice of activities in specific locations. It could be quiet reading, it could be a board game, it could be a boisterous game outside, it could be a quiet chat with some friends, it could be working on one of the computers. Activities are usually planned with a weekly theme in mind with staff guiding the children to make it a memorable experience.

History

Our New Zealand owned BestStart began in 1996. We opened our first centre in Tauranga employing four staff. TodayBestStart has grown to a company that cares and educates children throughout New Zealand. School’s Out is BestStart’s response to the needs of families who require quality out of school care once their children start school

Our Staff

A qualified and experienced manager is employed at each School’s Out centre to ensure the high standard of care, attention and education is maintained consistently. Our staff all enjoy interacting with, and caring for children. They are dedicated to providing your child/ren with the best quality care, recreation and education. Our staff have a variety of qualifications and experience and participate in ongoing training to further develop their skills and knowledge. All staff are police checked and employed in accordance with Child, Youth and Families Standards of Approval. All centres are supported and supervised by a School’s Out National Manager.
