Fun things to do

Playing with playdough introduces children to maths (weight and quantity), encourages creativity, use of language to describe what is being made, promotes links to real life experiences, such as pretending to cook and develops children’s fine motor skills (using tips of fingers that support writing in the future).

Playdough recipe

Ingredients

2 cups of flour
4 Tbs cream of tartar
2 Tbs cooking oil
1 cup of salt
Food colouring
2 cups of boiling water

Method

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Add more flour if sticky.

Goop recipe

Ingredients

450grams container of cornstarch
Up to 1 cup of water
Food coloring (optional)

Method

Place jar of corn starch into a tub. Add water. Add few drops of food colouring (optional).
