At BestStart Ferry road, we celebrate diversity and place great importance on building strong, meaningful relationships with every child and their whānau.

These partnerships are at the heart of our centre and create a welcoming, connected community where families feel a strong sense of belonging and enjoy coming together to participate in centre events. Our centre is enriched by the diversity of both our tamariki and teaching team, with a wide range of cultures represented and many languages spoken throughout our community. We value and respect each child’s unique culture, identity, language, and background, embracing every opportunity to celebrate diversity, share knowledge, and learn from one another.

We are proud of our strong localised curriculum, which is woven throughout our daily practice and visible across our learning environments. Inspired by Bells Creek, which runs through our centre grounds, children develop a deep connection with the natural world around them. The creek provides endless opportunities for exploration, discovery, and learning, with tamariki often delighting in spotting ducks and other wildlife nearby.

As a sustainability-focused centre, we are proud recipients of BestStart’s Tier 2: Kaitiakitanga - Protect/Guard (Embedded) award. Through meaningful everyday experiences, children learn how to care for the environment, develop respect for the natural world, and understand their role as kaitiaki of their community. Our rich learning programme encourages curiosity, responsibility, and a strong sense of connection to both people and place.
