Build, empower, thrive!
At BestStart Girven Road, our localised curriculum is at the heart of everything we do.
We believe children learn best when they are connected to the people, places, stories and experiences that make their community unique. Through regular community excursions, visits to local landmarks, centre events and meaningful partnerships, our tamariki develop a strong sense of belonging and connection to the Arataki community.
Guided by manaakitanga, whanaungatanga, and tuakana-teina, we create a warm and welcoming environment where children learn with and alongside one another. Our strong bicultural curriculum is woven throughout daily practice, supporting tamariki to develop an understanding of te ao Māori and fostering respect for culture, identity and diversity.
We pride ourselves on building genuine relationships with whānau and taking the time to truly know each family and their aspirations for their children. A standout feature of our centre is our huge outdoor environment, where children have endless opportunities to explore, take risks, be active and connect with the natural world. We embrace a holistic approach to wellbeing through Te Whare Tapa Whā, nurturing children's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.
As part of our commitment to preparing children for their next learning journey, our older tamariki regularly visit Arataki School through our transition-to-school programme. We also attend Baywave each week for swimming lessons, helping children develop water confidence and essential life skills. Together, these experiences empower tamariki to become confident, capable learners who are ready to build, empower, and thrive.
