At BestStart Mount Wellington, children are at the heart of everything we do. Our centre is devoted to nurturing and supporting them in every possible way, helping each child grow into the best version of themselves. Our kaiako are passionate, loving, and deeply committed to every child’s learning and development.

We embrace the rich diversity within our tamariki and community, celebrating and respecting all religions, cultures, and values. Our teaching team reflects this diversity, bringing a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives that enrich our centre. We work in genuine partnership with parents and whānau to foster a strong sense of belonging and trust for every child and family.

Our beautiful Maungarei (Mount Wellington) is an important part of our local curriculum. Historically, the maunga held many storage pits for root vegetables, symbolising sustenance, growth, and care. We use the metaphor of a seed to represent our tamariki — with the right nurturing, support, and environment provided by our kaiako, curriculum, and learning spaces, each child is empowered to grow and flourish.

This commitment to growth is reflected across our four learning rooms: Te Kākano – The Seed, Te Pūtake – The Roots, Te Tinana – The Trunk and Te Kauru – The Crown.

Across all stages, our centre provides a warm, safe, and connected environment where every child is seen, supported, and encouraged to flourish.
