Located in the heart of Temuka, BestStart Opihi is a welcoming semi-rural childcare centre where children can build strong relationships, explore their surroundings and grow in confidence. Our “Spring Forth” vision, inspired by the meaning of our town’s name, Opihi, reflects our commitment to creating an environment where children feel safe and confident to explore, challenge themselves, learn alongside others and develop skills for the future.
Whether your child is starting childcare for the first time or getting ready for school, our centre offers:
- Start with Heart: Our youngest tamariki are supported through play and everyday experiences to build confidence, independence and important early skills.
- Set for School: Older children build the literacy, numeracy, social and practical skills they need to feel confident and ready for starting school.
- Connected to our community: Local excursions, including visits to the Temuka Library, give children opportunities to explore their community and learn beyond the centre.
- Learning together: Our two classrooms work closely together, encouraging tuakana-teina relationships where older and younger children can learn from and support each other.
- Convenience for families: With siblings able to attend the same centre and opening hours until 5pm, BestStart Opihi offers a practical option for busy Temuka families.
