At BestStart Waikanae, children have the space and freedom to explore, play and discover in a unique early learning environment surrounded by nature. Located beside the Hemi Matenga track and backing onto Waikanae School, our childcare centre in Waikanae offers expansive outdoor spaces where children can climb trees, ride bikes, run freely and build confidence through adventure.

We believe some of the best learning happens when children are given the freedom to be curious. Our teachers support each child to follow their interests, challenge themselves and grow at their own pace, with learning extending well beyond the walls of our centre.

• Outdoor adventures: Our large natural playground gives children room to climb, run, ride and explore, while regular bush walks around the local area encourage curiosity and a connection with nature.

• Connected to our community: From visits to our local Bupa rest home to exploring the neighbouring Waikanae School grounds during school holidays, children build meaningful connections with the people and places around them.

• Learning through play: Children are encouraged to follow their interests, try new things and discover what they're capable of through enriching play-based experiences and resources.

• Start with Heart: Our youngest children are supported through nurturing relationships, responsive care and meaningful experiences that build strong foundations for their early learning journey.

• Set for School: As children prepare for primary school, our Set for School programme supports them to develop the confidence, independence and important skills they need for a positive transition.
