Our Nursery at BestStart Beckenham provides a warm and nurturing environment where pēpi and toddlers can feel safe, loved and supported as they begin their early learning journey. We understand that every child is unique, so our kaiako take the time to get to know your child, build trusting relationships and provide care that reflects their individual needs and routines.

• Start with Heart: Our Start with Heart approach focuses on building strong, trusting relationships from the very beginning. Through nurturing care and meaningful everyday interactions, we help pēpi feel secure, develop a sense of belonging and grow in confidence.

• Primary Caregiving: Each child has a dedicated primary caregiver who gets to know their individual routines, including nappy changes, feeding, bottles and sleep patterns. These close relationships help children feel comfortable and supported as they begin building connections with others.

• Individual Care and Routines: We work alongside whānau to maintain familiar routines from home and support each child's development. For pēpi under one, we provide a daily communication notebook so you can stay connected with your child's day at the centre.

• Learning Through Everyday Experiences: Our kaiako provide age-appropriate experiences and engaging activities that support children's social and emotional development, encouraging them to explore and learn at their own pace.

Our Nursery provides a loving and supportive start to early learning, where every child is cared for as an individual and encouraged to build the trust and confidence they need to explore the world around them.

Our Preschool at BestStart Beckenham welcomes tamariki aged 2–5 years into a lively environment filled with opportunities to play, learn and discover. We encourage children to explore their interests, develop independence and build friendships as they prepare for their next learning adventure. Our mixed-age environment also supports tuakana-teina relationships, where older and more experienced tamariki guide and encourage younger children, helping everyone learn from one another.

• Set for School: We support tamariki as they prepare for their transition to school, building early literacy and numeracy skills, confidence and independence through everyday learning experiences.

• Learning Through Play: We encourage curious minds and a lifelong love of learning through exploration, discovery and activities that inspire children to ask questions and try new things.

• Building Strong Bodies: Active play helps tamariki develop their fine and gross motor skills, coordination and physical confidence as they grow and explore their surroundings.

• Communication, Literacy and Numeracy: Children develop their communication skills and explore letters, sounds, the alphabet and concepts of print, building foundations for future learning.

• Identity, Language and Culture: We support tamariki to develop a strong sense of self and belonging while celebrating language and culture in an inclusive learning environment.

• Learning Together: Through tuakana-teina relationships, children have opportunities to share knowledge, help one another and develop social skills as they learn and grow together.

Our Preschool provides a fun and inclusive environment where tamariki can develop confidence, independence and a love of learning, building skills and friendships that support them as they get ready for school and beyond.
