We work closely with families to support each child's dietary needs, allergies and cultural food preferences. Respecting family food practices helps children feel included, supported and confident at mealtimes.

Food plays an important role in children's health, wellbeing and sense of identity. Children benefit when their dietary requirements are met safely and their family's cultural traditions and preferences are recognised and respected within the childcare environment.

At BestStart, we discuss dietary requirements and cultural food preferences with families during enrolment and develop individual food plans where needed. Teachers and cooks follow established food handling and allergy management procedures, and meals are adapted to meet each child's needs wherever possible. Our goal is to create safe, inclusive mealtime experiences that reflect and respect the diverse backgrounds of the families in our care.
