How do you ensure consistency of care for my baby?

Consistency of care means your baby experiences familiar routines, responsive care and predictable interactions each day. Consistent care helps babies feel secure, build trusting relationships and develop confidence in their childcare environment.

Babies thrive when the adults caring for them understand their routines, preferences and individual cues. Consistency also helps create a smoother transition between home and childcare, giving families confidence that their baby's needs are being understood and supported.

At BestStart, we aim to provide stable teaching teams so babies regularly see familiar teachers. We also use shared routines, team communication and careful handovers to ensure teachers understand each child's care needs and preferences. When staffing changes do occur, we support smooth transitions and maintain open communication with families.

Good to know

  • Consistency is often supported through team communication, handovers and shared knowledge about each child’s routines and preferences.
  • Changes in routines, sleep patterns or family circumstances are helpful for teachers to know so care can be adjusted as needed.
  • If staffing changes occur, teachers work to ensure transitions are as smooth and familiar as possible for children.
