How often are nappies changed?

Nappies are changed regularly throughout the day and whenever they are wet or soiled. Frequent nappy changes help keep babies comfortable, support skin health and ensure individual care needs are met.

Every child has different toileting and hygiene needs, particularly during developmental stages such as toilet training. Responsive nappy changing routines help children stay clean and comfortable while supporting their wellbeing and dignity.

At BestStart, nappies are checked and changed at least every three hours, and more often when needed. All nappy changes are recorded and families can access this information as part of their child's daily updates. We prioritise each child's comfort, privacy and wellbeing, and will let you know if we notice concerns such as nappy rash or changes that may require attention.

Good to know

  • Let your teachers know if your child has sensitive skin, a history of nappy rash or specific products they use at home.
  • Changes in toileting patterns can sometimes be linked to teething, illness, diet changes or developmental milestones.
  • Nappy changing routines are also opportunities for one-to-one interaction, communication and relationship building with your child.
