What if my child isn't ready for childcare?

Some children take longer to adjust to childcare than others, and that's completely okay. We'll work closely with you to support your child's individual settling journey and help them build confidence at their own pace.

Starting childcare is a big change for both children and families. While some children settle quickly, others need more time to feel comfortable with new people, routines and surroundings. Our teachers respond with patience, consistency and encouragement, adapting their approach to meet your child's individual needs and temperament.

We'll stay in close communication with you throughout the settling process, reviewing strategies, routines and progress together. By working as partners, we can help your child feel safe, secure and ready to engage with their new environment, relationships and and learning experiences.

Good to know

  • It's common for children to have both positive days and more challenging days while they settle into childcare.
  • Consistent attendance can help children become familiar with their teachers, routines and environment.
  • Small changes to routines, drop-off practices or settling strategies can sometimes make a big difference.
