We share regular updates so families know how their child is learning and settling throughout the day. Ongoing communication between families and teachers helps ensure children receive consistent care and support between home and childcare.

Good communication allows families to stay connected to their child's experiences, share important information and discuss any changes to routines, development or wellbeing. Regular updates also help build strong relationships between families and teachers.

At BestStart, we use a parent communication platform to share photos, learning stories and updates about your child's day. Some centres also provide daily diaries or written updates. Families are welcome to speak with teachers at drop-off and pick-up, call the centre for an update, and take part in meetings and discussions about their child's progress and wellbeing.

Good to know

  • Families are encouraged to share any changes at home that may affect their child’s routines or wellbeing.
  • Face-to-face conversations at drop-off and pick-up are often good times to share updates or catch up with your teaching team.
  • Your teachers or Centre Manager will also hold formal hui or meetings with you and your whānau, which can also be a great time to share information and updates.
